Here are some dates of local interest. Support our Town. Come on out and take advantage of summertime fun.
On Sunday, July 3rd the annual boat parade will take place, starting at Rosie's at 2p.m. The theme is "An Old Fashioned Fourth of July."
Flares will be lighted around the lake at dusk, also on Sunday, the 3rd. They are available for purchase at Kay's Country Store or at Rosie's for $1.50 each. The lighting begins with the lighting of a large T, spiked with flares, on the dam. After that individuals light their own. It's a moving sight. On Wednesday, July 13, at 5p.m., The Erieville-Nelson Heritage Society will be having a family picnic at Nichol's Pond. This is a history-rich county owned park on Oxbow Road. It boasts good facilities, grills and a couple of pavilions. Bring your own utensils and drinks plus a dish to pass. Bug repellant is another suggested item. All are welcome. You need not be a member of the organization to attend.
The around the lake and community Garage Sales will be held on Saturday, July 16 beginning around 9 a.m. While you're out wandering, take advantage of a couple of food offerings. The ladies of the Eastern Star will have a bake sale on Hall Road.
Also, an interesting menu will be available at the Erieville Church parking area beginning at 11a.m. You may eat on site or buy portions to take home. -Chicken Speedies -Potato Salad -Italian Macaroni Salad. Proceeds to the Church.
A new garage sale feature will also be available on this day in the church basement. The Heritage Society is organizing a tag sale of good goods. If you have items to donate to this effort that would be great, but also you can choose to consign items and share your profit with the organization. Prices and percentages are up to the owner of the item. Set-up will be on Friday night. It will be necessary for you to take any unsold merchandise home directly after the sale as this room is used for Sunday school, the following day. No clothes or books, please. Call Fay Lyon 655-8045 or Denise Earl 662-7621 for details.
For a spiritual lift, there is a service each Sunday evening at 7p.m. at the nondenominational Welsh Church. Also, all are welcome at the 11:30 a.m. Sunday service at the Erieville Church.
