Someday, maybe, I'll learn about e-mail addresses as opposed to website connections. I keep thinking that we are between the age of the horse and buggy and the automobile and continue to excuse my density on that basis. Here's the deal. Ones' e-mail address contains the symbol @ while in a similar spot on the website there appears a dot. (a period) So, from now on, I expect to get our community website address correct. I also had an issue of inserting a www in the web address. No, no. It begins with http only. So here's where we stand:

It's been an interesting month that is now almost over. Official business included several complex issues of allowing building (or not) on some lakefront properties. Much of the Town of Nelson is in what is referred to as a Waterfront Zone also, where building resrictions are more stringent than in other areas. The text of the town building codes is available on the website and hard copies are available for a nominal fee at the town clerk's office.

Marge Lyon presented a program on old silver spoons at months' meeting of the Heritage Society. She has a collection that was made especially for the Nelson Centennial, 1907.

Anne Adams from the Limestone Creek Hunt Club gave a most informative and fascinating presentation at the ENCA meeting this month. The club now is located on Eden Hollow Road and Ms. Adams is in charge of the facility and the 35-45 hounds that reside there. This has always seemed like such an exclusive sport to me and to find that they are open and friendly to anyone interested in what they are all about was just a fun thing. A Kennel Open House and "puppy party" is to be held the first week in June so watch for announcements. It is a good thing for the puppies to be handled early in their life as, unlike a house pet, they live in a dog commune and are trained to work in a particular way and don't get a lot of one on one petting.

Well, let's see. Have you all wanted to get out and plant for the last three weeks or more, as I have? Bought tomatoes and peppers and broccoli and all that good stuff but they have remained in their flats having to be watered and protected from many nights of frost. On the other hand, the daffodils lasted for a month or more and the black flies are practically non existent, as of yet, anyway.

At a woods-walk on Thompson Road with a wild edible plants devotee, a range of Spring growth was pointed out for the taking. The salad pictured consists of dandelion greens, plantain, red dock, leeks with their leaves and a sprinkle of violets. Served with a dressing of yogurt spiked with dill, it was delightful.

The E-N Heritage Society and ENCA will meet on Wednesday, June 8th at Nelson Farms for a tour. The regular meeting follows.

The ENCA Garden club will meet at the Erieville Church on Saturday, June 4th at 10a.m. to spruce things up there and elsewhere. Any interested people are encouraged to join us. Bring implements and plants to trade. Maybe, we'll even go to Rosies for lunch.

We're still looking for stories, and, whatever…
