Fay Lyon, Town of Nelson Historian reports county plans

March 8, inspite of the inclement weather, brought the Cazenovia Area Chamber of Commerce to Nelson Farms. They along with the S.U.N.Y. Morrisville Food Service and M.A.C., hosted the most fabulous meal with offerings made on site at the new facility. Eighty-two people were treated to a tour of the site and samplings of items made at the new facility. AII fantastic! We are alI in for a wonderful treat when the facility is soon opened to the public. If the Country Store proves a success, MAC at Nelson Farms hopes to open a coffee shop/computer cafe. Let's all show our support - you won't be disappointed!! Thanks to Nelson Farms,Dave and Sue Evans, Liz Coffey and Cindy Saunders, et aI, for your great hospitality.

ENCA and the Town of Nelson are tentatively planning our 2nd Annual town-wide, clean-up day. for Saturday, April 30. Let's alI pitch-in and spiff up our Town again this year!!

The March Planning Board meeting was "quiet" with only one item on the agenda.

The March Town Board meeting was a bit livelier with a heavier agenda on the table. The new town insurance was the first topic and with an agreeable program presented, the Board voted to accept the plan offered by agent, Steve McCarthy.

Supervisor, Dick Williams reported that our financial report was filed electronically this year. He also reported the "mix-up" with the boundaries of the ambulance service and insisted that "this will be straightened out!"

Highway Supervisor, Jack Sevier gave his highway report. He and the crews have been very busy this winter with freezes and thaws and of course, the snow. He reported that plans are being made for road work. (In no particular order), Nourse Road, Irish HilI Road, Hughes Road and Cook Hill Road. Thanks for the great job, Jack and guys!! We appreciate all you do!!

The Zoning Board has a fulI plate scheduled for the March 30 meeting with 5 items so far. Everyone can attend and I would think that if you live on one of our lakes, you should attend since 4 of the items on the agenda are lakefront properties.

If you have any interest in our Town and it's functions, you should attend any or alI of the meetings. The Planning Board meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month and the Town Board meets on the 2nd Thursday of the month. Meetings begin at 7:00..

Great things are happening at the Erieville Church. Palm Sunday will see many people becoming new members of the church and reaffirming their baptisims. Please join us at 11:30

Town Historian (one of his many hats), Fay Lyon, has reported some of the events being planned by our Town and County for the upcoming BiCentennial. Some events planned are a fly-in of antique planes in Hamilton, the demonstration of old baseball by Cooperstown re-enactors and hopefully the formation of "antique" baseball teams, using uniforms of the era, the painting of barn logos and County Supervisors meeting with garb of the era (long beards and arriving in horse and buggies). What fun!!

The Erieville Nelson Heritage Society gears up for the season on Wednesday, April 13 with a covered dish dinner at the Town Office Building beginning at 6:00. Bring a dish to pass and placesettings. Dessert and coffee furnished. Everyone is invited to attend. Come and see what we are about and learn some history, as well. We have different speakers and various programs ~ each month. We meet every second Wednesday at 7:00 pm.with alternate meetings held at the Town Office Building or the Erieville Fire House. Please join us for history and fun. Questions? calI 655-8045.
