Erieville Nelson Gazette

Publisher ENCA
Volume Number 2 Issue Number 1
January, 2005

Thanks to all who have supported our little publication that we started last year. As we wander into another season, it is with the hope that we will come to know and appreciate our town and our neighbors a little better.

The next meeting to come up is the community association (ENCA) on the 17th at 7pm at the Dark Horse Gallery on Erieville Road. All are welcome, even if you just want an excuse to peek at this lovely place.

From the smiles department: Brooke, Scott and Regan Dauenhauer of Hall Road, are happy to announce that Avery Anna is home from the neonatal unit at CIM Hospital. She is doing well and fitting into her premie clothing. Local grandparents are Ron and Sonia Davies.

As new life blooms, so it fades. Three members of the community have died this week and we extend our sympathy and prayers to the families. The three gentlemen are Stanley Markowski, Henry Grabowsky and Max Bear.

The Planning Board and Town Board both met this week with full agendas. The Planning Board had five issues to consider, three of which were very difficult. Those need to be followed up by the Town attorney and /or the Zoning Board.

The Town Board considered issues of health insurance for employees and voted on a plan. The Highway Department is in good shape having experienced a relatively mild winter so far. Tim Etter has accepted an appointment to the Zoning Board of Appeals following the resignation of Dan Markowski.

The "banner project" will be an ongoing one as interest continues and contributions are forthcoming. There were a few disappointed people in Erieville because the five new banners were all on poles on the road north of the four corners. Well, hopefully, as this project progresses, banners can be put up south of the hamlet, toward Dugway Road. It's up to NiMo just which poles are OK to use.

Another project gaining momentum is that of erecting decorative signs at the borders of the Town. If any of you artistic types out there have any ideas for such signs please bring them to the attention of the Board or come to an ENCA meeting where there is a lot of interest. This 'Our Town' spirit is contagious.

The Erieville Methodist Church will hold an open meeting on Thursday, January 20th to discuss their future with interim pastor, Nelson Stafford, whose term is up in July. Any interested persons are encouraged to attend.

The Heritage Society display that was on loan to the County is back in its climate-controlled room at the Town Office Building. Certain items will be further displayed in the public meeting room during the winter months.

We hope that you get a chance to view the new town website. Interesting things continue to be submitted and will be posted regularly. This is an easy way to get acquainted with our energetic town and participate by adding your own special data.
